William Napier is one of the major buildings in this region. The building lays on a hilly land covering a total of 27 hectares. Among major roads in this area, is Napier road that heads to Napier William building. The road was constructed in the year 1854. Tanglin was also given the name Tang leng. The name Tang leng originated from a Chinese name Twa tang leng. The name meant great hill east crests. In reference to speculations, the name had a connection with many hills located in the region. Before the year 1822, Tangline was infested with tigers from nearby forests. The year 1822 is one of the memorable years since this is when the Chinese begun moving into this region. The Chinese also began their own spice plantations. Tanglin is known for its famous places named after names relating to Scotland places as well as people. Such areas include, Balmoral which was named after Queen Victoria’s most preferred home. The home is found in Scotland. Edinburg is another place as well whose name links to the duke of Edinburgh. The year 1869 saw the Duke visit Singapore hence the name generating form his visit. The region of Tanglin is one of the major towns which is home to many government’s offices including the post office building.
